The WONDERful World of Science

Join us for our annual children’s program, the WONDERful World of Science, at the Nesmith Library, March 10th from 10 am – 2 pm! This year we’ve themed our program after our town-wide reading, Wonder. There will, of course, be science-themed crafts, activities, and snacks galore plus a fabulous demonstration brought to us by the SEE Science Center’s SEEmobile! Kids will get the chance to have some hands-on experience playing with polymers, making kaleidoscopes, and of course FREE FROSTYS!

The event will run from 10 am – 2 pm with the demonstration running from 11 am – 12 pm.

As always, we’ll have our book fair during the week prior, running from March 9 from 9-5 pm and Saturday, March 10 from 9:30-2:30pm where you’ll have a chance to score some fabulous deals on great books, and an exclusive preview day for  F.L.O.W. members, seniors, and teachers on Thursday, March 8 from 3-6pm.

2016 Rockin' Rain Forest and Book Fair

Thank you to those who were able to attend the Rockin' Rainforest & Book Fair event on Saturday, March 19th from 11-2 at the Nesmith Library!  It was a Rockin' good time!

2015 Library Luau & Book Fair

On March 14, the library transformed into a Hawaiian paradise filled with games and activities. Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals (www.LindsaysPuppetPals.com) put on an amazing show for the children.  There were Hula lessons by the Ohana Hula School, face painting, tiki mask decorating, limbo, Luau games, and many more fun filled activities.  Light refreshments, crafts, raffles, prizes and other fun treats rounded out the family friendly event.

2014 Frozen Fun Fest and Winter Book Fair

The Friends of the Library of Windham (F.L.O.W.) hosted a Frozen Fun Fest and Book Sale event at the Nesmith Library on Saturday, March 8th, 2014.   The library was transformed into a Frozen Winter Wonderland filled with games and activities based on the movie “Frozen”.  There was snowman building, snow flake decorating, snowball tossing, a sled race and lots of other fun games and activities.  Windham High School art students were also on hand to teach the children how to draw the characters from the movie.  Many children even come dressed as their favorite character from Frozen. The children were thrilled by the special appearance of Frozen Queen Elsa!  Thank you to our sponsors Party Palace for bringing Elsa to the event, A.J. Letizio for donating the delicious snacks and to Chris Baker from Wendy's for donating the Frostys!  Also thanks to our many volunteers including Boy Scout Troops 263 and 266, the Girl Scouts, Windham High School and Windham Middle School students. It was a fun filled day!  More photos with Elsa can be viewed at Party Palace's web page located here.  Jim Robidoux from Distinctive Images Photography took all the great shots of the kids with Elsa!
